Dong Yong's hometown is in front of Xiaohuai Village, Huangfu Town, Wanrong County. Dong Yong was from the Western Han Dynasty around more than 2,000 years ago. The story of Dong Yong and Tian Xian has a long history which later became a household story.

Dong Yong was good at planting crops and was filial to his parents. When the girl Tian Xian who lived in Tianjia Yao heard about this, she fell in love with him and they got married. The girl Tian Xian was very clever, but in the later legend she was gradually treated as a fairy. In order to repay Dong Yong's debts, the fairy girl wove the cloth day and night. Finally, she finished the brocade and paid off the debt. People all admire her very much. Later when the young men and women get married, they all make "conjunction marriage cloth" in order to memorize them. This marriage custom is deeply popular in Yuncheng area. All the pagoda trees in the vicinity of the Pagoda Tree Courtyard were planted by Dong Yong. After Dong Yong's death, later generations called the village "Pagoda Tree Courtyard" in memory of him. Once, when people were building a house for the so-called white-beard old man, they lost a bolt when they brought the new wood ashore. Hearing this, Dong Yong went down to the bottom of the ditch at once, fished in the muddy water and found it.The old man with white beard appreciated what Dong Yong had done. The old man with white beard turned out to be the earth god. And the building was to build a temple for the earth god. Later, when Dong Yong was engaged to Tian Xian, the earth god was very happy to match them. Today, in the area of Xiaohuai Village in Wanrong County, there are stone tablets of Dong Yong's hometown, Dong's Ancestral Temple, family tree, earth temple, pagoda tree and stone gate bridge and other ruins.
